Summary of Position:
As one component of KOBI’s greater Engineering team—the IT/Broadcast Engineer Project Manager leads the IT Department in managing the compute and network components of KOBI’s engineering strategy. The IT/Broadcast Engineer Project Manager is integral to ensuring that IT supports the greater engineering effort as required by a broadcast organization. This position requires technical expertise as well as leadership in the areas of: personnel oversight and mentoring, network design, computer environment support, and integration of IT with the hardware and/or appliances that are core components of a multi-property broadcast production environment.

This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: · Infrastructure support and design, including firewall, Wi-Fi, VPN and security · IT vendor relationship management · Supervision and mentoring of subordinate IT staff · User support and training · Integration support of IT with broadcast and media appliances and technologies · Integration support for parent network as well as other outside suppliers and customers · Support of Ethernet over point-to-point microwave as well as spread spectrum · IT support of company operations, including logistical coordination as required · IT strategy and planning, including lifecycle management of network and compute environments · Maintain as-built documentation, procedural run-book, as well as future-looking design and architecture documents · Daily troubleshooting of technical problems · Maintenance of operational procedures and relationships · Perform and oversee routine maintenance activities e.g. backups, OS updates, software updates, user setups, etc. · General knowledge of radio transmitters and their integration into the network · Repair and maintenance of MCR and production master control room equipment · Diagnose and repair existing broadcast equipment · Install new broadcast equipment/systems using current industry installation techniques · Perform preventative maintenance inspections on all MCR and studio equipment on a regular basis to help prevent failures (checking fans, power supplies, alarms, dusting/vacuuming) · Appropriately responding to viewer complaints/concerns concerning on-air, cable, and satellite issues in a timely manner. Always logging names, locations, and phone numbers when possible · Respond appropriately to staff member requests in person or via email for assistance · Keep records of receipts, purchase orders, and equipment maintenance · Attend weekly Engineering meetings · Look at ways to improve procedures regarding equipment use and repair · On-call as needed · Monitor and check transmitters and sites remotely daily. Check on-air returns remotely on a daily basis · IT duties may include installing servers, user computers, switchport configuration, etc. · Installation and maintenance of microwave systems and related remote transmission equipment · Transmitter maintenance (adjusting exciters, power levels, etc., to help keep transmitters running at peak performance) · Performs other engineering duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering Additional Duties and Responsibilities: · Assist the department in various operations · Able to be flexible and assist other departments as may be required in our dynamic environmentRequirements:
Minimum Qualifications: · BA/BS in Computer Science and/or equivalent training and experience · Minimum of five years related work experience in IT · A well-rounded understanding of network and compute environments with an emphasis on: Windows, Linux, Mac & BYOD; as well as Cisco, Artista, Fortinet · A basic understanding of audio/video production and related hardware and software · Knowledge of Broadcast Systems KOBI-TV NBC5 is licensed by the FCC, therefore, must follow federal guidelines. Since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, if offered a position, a candidate must pass a 10-panel drug screen, including marijuana. A 3-year driving record check and a 7-year criminal background check are also pre-employment requirements. A valid driver’s license is also required.Contact:
