Description:
KOBI-TV NBC5 is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and engaging Meteorologist to join our news team. This position is responsible for preparing and presenting accurate and informative weather forecasts during the morning newscasts while contributing to overall newsroom coverage as needed.
The ideal candidate is passionate about meteorology, confident on-air, and able to communicate complex weather information clearly and professionally to viewers across Southern Oregon and Northern California.
Qualifications:
College degree in Meteorology, Broadcast Journalism, or related field preferred
Equivalent broadcast and/or meteorology experience considered
Strong understanding of meteorology and weather gathering systems
Knowledge of broadcast news production and journalism standards
Experience operating broadcast and weather-related equipment
Excellent writing, editing, organizational, and communication skills
Strong on-air presentation and storytelling abilities
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure
Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public
This position reports directly to the News Director. Candidates should be prepared to work early mornings.

Responsibilities:
Present informative and engaging weathercasts during morning newscasts Gather and interpret meteorological information from weather services, radar, and satellite feeds Prepare computer-generated weather graphics and forecasts using weather graphics systems Research weather patterns and breaking weather developments Assist in training news anchors related to weather presentation and reporting Occasionally report on general news events as assigned Collaborate with newsroom staff to support overall news coverage Perform additional duties as assignedRequirements:
KOBI-TV NBC5/KOTI-TV NBC2 is licensed by the FCC therefore, we must follow federal guidelines. Since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, if offered a position, a candidate would be required to pass a 10-panel drug screen, which does include marijuana.
