Description:
WMUK-FM seeks a trained, eager journalist to join its newsroom as a part-time general assignment reporter. This member of our team will file spots and features on a range of topics. Some assignments will be turned the same day while others will be developed over weeks. Most assignments will fall during regular business hours. Some flexibility in scheduling around the employee’s other obligations is built into this part-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Research and pitch story ideas
- Interview sources, draft and revise copy under an editor's direction
- Fact-check, voice and produce pieces.
- Produce web versions of stories for wmuk.org
- Take photographs, and potentially videos, for stories
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications- At least six (6) months of reporting experience or equivalent training
- A willingness to work closely with an editor
- Thorough grounding in journalistic ethics and practices
- Must be a licensed driver with reliable transportation
- Ability to voice a script clearly and comfortably
- Ability to produce daily and breaking news on tight deadlines.
- Experience with Adobe Audition and public radio style
- Bachelor's degree or higher in related field such as journalism from an accredited institution.
