Description:
New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) is seeking a creative collaborator to join our NHPR Programming operations team. The Production Manager plays a key role in shaping and maintaining the quality and consistency of NHPR’s sound and “feel” across broadcast, on-demand, and streaming platforms, with the goal of growing and diversifying NHPR’s audience. The Production Manager will be “the voice” of the station. Day-to-day tasks include crafting production elements such as 15 and 30-second promos and station imaging, producing one-hour broadcast specials, and audio assets used for fund drives. This role also entails a live production element assisting in broadcast productions such as fund drives, debates, and live remote events.
This is a full-time, in-person role that is based in Concord, NH, and reports to the Program Director.
Responsibilities:
Play a role in the development of "Podcast to Broadcast" initiative, and liaise between operations and podcast units. Lead the creation, voicing, and production of station-focused audio messaging and legal IDs across NHPR's platforms, including broadcast (NHPR and ClassicalNH), NPR One, live streams, podcasts, regional transmitters, etc. Work with the Program Director and Operations Manager to execute the production of broadcast and on-demand productions as required, including live event audio, pop-up programs, and special broadcast programs and segments. Produce Something Wild, our long-running segment about the natural world in NH for broadcast and podcast distribution; as time allows, work with the Program Director to develop spots, segments, specials and other programming that elevates content about the natural world in New Hampshire. Play a lead role in the creation and production of NHPR's fundraising/promotional assets: Collaborate across teams to generate ideas for and execute the production of audio tied to fundraising and NHPR promotion, including on-air spots, stream insertions, podcast midrolls, etc. Work with the Program Director to identify and maximize available broadcast assets to include fundraising and daily broadcasts. Serve as backup to the Operations Manager. Act as studio core support to troubleshoot recording and broadcast problems as they arise.Requirements:
3+ years working in audio production/operations with audio software such as Audition 2-3 years working in live broadcasting Prior experience working in non-profit fundraising Natural creative thinking skills and the ability to produce out-of-the-box promotional ideas and solutions Exceptional verbal and written English skills, with the ability to "write for the ear" Excellent team and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, be flexible, and take ownership Self-motivation and independence, be open to taking on new tasks ...but we know there are great candidates who may not have all these qualities or who have important skills we haven't thought of.
