Position Overview

Employee provides credible, personable news hosting for 4-hour news programs.  This position is for professional news writers and anchors; it is not a talk host role.  Periodic “on call” shifts to cover employee vacation relief and sick days can include 5-9AM and 3-7PM.  Employee may also be asked to write and anchor short newscasts 9AM-3PM or 7-10PM.

 

NOTE: This is a generic posting.  Management assigns responsibilities on a regular and/or rotating basis depending upon company needs.

 

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake City site.

Compensation

$15.00 – $25.00. Hourly rate to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do: Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to: Hosts or co-hosts scripted news shows as scheduled. Demonstrates professional, energetic hosting either in studio or by remote access. Debriefs live details of breaking news as needed with energy and confidence. Additional responsibilities could include writing, interviewing, pulling audio, anchoring and general newsroom support in the morning, afternoon, or evening as available. Candidate willing to include live commercial mentions and short copy as needed. Social media and digital responsibilities include breaking news updates, general promotion of station and upholding KSL brand standards in all spaces. Has a thorough working knowledge and understanding of KSL policy and FCC rules and regulations. Attends staff meetings and meets regularly with the Program Director for airchecks. Maintains confidentiality by not discussing internal KSL matters, company strategies, client’s proprietary information, personnel matters, wage and salary information or any other sensitive information with clients, competitors, listeners, the media or inappropriately with co-workers and by not distributing KSL’s proprietary research or other information to competitors. Maintains assigned equipment. Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures. Work effectively in a team environment. Maintain a positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management, and clients. Consistently works hours required.  Works more when required to meet deadlines including busy news days, breaking news, weekends, holidays, evenings, and overtime, etc. Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor. Personal growth and development. Able to manage stress effectively. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For: Prefer someone who has worked effectively a host with other professionals in creating a unique broadcast. College degree in Journalism or relevant field An in-house audition under the direction of the KSL program director may be required. Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Lift, move, and carry up to XX pounds on occasion / frequently.
