Supervise, coordinate and participate in master/technical operator duties to meet the needs of KSLTV and clients.


Assist the Director of Broadcast Operations, Chief Engineer/TV Engineering in creating high quality “on-air” product.
Supervise and coordinate the efforts of KSLTV Technical Operations staff.
Provide updated schedules of assigned shifts for KSLTV technical operations.
Provide employees with feedback on their performance.
Hire new employees as needed and approved.
Promote smooth operating Technical Operations Department
Create and implement departmental procedures.
Interface with other departments to promote good relations.
Continually monitor equipment and report any follow-up on any technical problems noted to TV Engineering.
Provide consistent coaching and training to KSLTV Technical Operations staff.
Train all operators on operation of equipment and daily responsibilities in Master Control, VTR.
Develop operator skills and knowledge to achieve high level of expertise in all areas of technical operations.
Ensure operators are knowledgeable of applicable FCC regulations.
FCC and EAS requirements and procedures, transmitter remote, etc.
Ensure all operators are trained in FCC requirements pertaining to Master Control and VTR.
Ensure all operators are trained in EAS.

Ability to organize, analyze and interpret statistical data and draw conclusions from finding and follow-through.
Ability to work with moderate supervision, confidential information and be a self-starter.
Learn Captionmaker or similar software. Become familiar with importing video and text documents to create closed captions for variety of local programming. Assure that others in the department can also fill this need to provide depth.
Learn Telestream Vantage. Become familiar with workflows including how to build new and or modify existing workflows to meet changing needs. Assure that others in the department can also fill this need to provide depth.
Focus on innovation, continually working toward the most efficient and stable workflows and other methods of automation to assure consistent and effective operation of the department.
Learn Adobe Premiere. Become familiar with basic editing principals.
Capable and willing to resolve unexpected problems and be flexible to perform unscheduled assignments.
A high level of proficiency with computers, software and new technologies.
Highly familiar with the benefits and shortcomings of all types of media including, but not limited to “heritage” media as well as all types of current and emerging social and digital media.
Maintain a valid driver’s license and proven ability to safely drive personal vehicle without exposing company to serious liability risks.
Possess excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
