Position Overview
KSL TV 5 is seeking a knowledgable, engaging meteorologist to anchor weathercasts for KSL TV in Salt Lake City. We get great weather across Utah, and we need someone who can connect with our audiences and make sure they get the information they need from a voice they trust.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake City site.
What You Will Do:
Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Prepare and anchor weathercasts for KSL 5 TV newscasts in a way that meets high standards of quality and journalistic integrity
Produce weathercasts for daily broadcast utilizing weather software and broadcast equipment effectively
Write, produce and stand-up report stories for either tape/audio or live camera
Cover and be prepared to cover any story as needed, including last minute breaking news
Participates in promotional activities including public appearances
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites
Meet the schedule requirements of the job and be able to work nights, weekends, holidays as needed
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor and reflect company values while on-air and during personal appearances
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
College degree in journalism, communication, related field or equivalent
Minimum of two (2) years’ commercial broadcast journalism weather anchoring and reporting experience, or equivalent
Maintain a valid driver’s license and safely operate personal or station vehicles as required
Physical Demands
Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
Compensation
$50,000 to $90,000 per yaer. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
