The Georgia Association of Broadcasters is one of the largest state broadcasting associations in the nation, representing nearly 400 television and radio stations covering all 159 counties in Georgia.

The GAB president is the face of local broadcasting in Georgia. As such, this person possesses an understanding of and passion for all media–terrestrial broadcast and digital including social media. The ideal candidate also understands the legislative and regulatory pressures on those in the media and can establish relationships with state and federal government leaders. The president is responsible for the day-to-day operations, events, and communications supporting the strategic goals of the organization and does so under the direction of the Executive Committee while reporting directly to the Board.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a line of communication with the Board of Directors concerning associations operations
  • Solicit and negotiate Public Education Partnership (PEP), sponsorships and oversee the execution and fulfillment of all such contracts
  • Plan, promote, and facilitate all official meetings of the Association
  • Develops and recommend an annual budget for consideration and approval by the Board of Directors
  • Act as a spokesperson for the association, particularly with respect to bills that may affect broadcasters; monitoring legislation and providing testimony and advocacy as needed
  • Maintain relationships and communication with Local, State, and National elected officials and work with national trade organizations to promote and protect the interest of Broadcasters
  • Maintain partnership with National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and National Alliance of State Broadcasting Association (NASBA)
  • Assist government officials, the FCC, and licensees of member and non-member stations in implementing the State’s Emergency Alert System Plan
  • Maintain knowledge of trends impacting the broadcast industry
  •  Oversee and supervise all FT, PT, contract employee’s responsibilities and job duties

Requirements:

  • Preferred ten (10) years of experience in broadcast executive management, non-profit organization administration, trade association or a related field and have a proven track record of success in a corporate, private, or non-profit environment
  • Four-year college or university degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Must be proficient in basic accounting principles and basic computer skills
  • Savvy in current social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc…
  • While performing this job, employee must be physically able to conduct all job requirements
  • Must be able to adapt to changing needs in the operation of the Association, work under tight deadlines, speak publicly, and be a positive ambassador for the Association and the broadcast industry
