We are one of the largest news operations in Nebraska, Flood Communications delivers hyper-local news and high-quality programming to radio, TV, and digital audiences across the state, reaching more than 500,000 homes and 200,000 social media followers. Its stations include: News Channel Nebraska, Telemundo Nebraska and ten radio stations. News Channel Nebraska is the only in-state, independent television network of its kind in America. Telemundo Nebraska is the state’s first network affiliate to deliver live, local Spanish news to Nebraska’s nearly 250,000 Hispanic residents. Flood Communications connects communities across the state by covering important events, supporting worthy causes, and continuing to look ahead, envisioning the future of communications and the media.


Responsibilities: •  Radio play-by-play for local high school sports, occasional TV play-by-play for high school and college sports •    Grow sports audience through broadcast and social media as well as on demand audio content development •    Comprehensive video news reporting (story idea, interview, shoot, edit, publish) • Establish systems and processes to share and distribute sports content across multiple platforms • Manage sports initiatives • Work with research and analytics to craft stories supporting sports content integration and audience growth mission • Partner with revenue leadership on development of programs, features and sponsorship opportunities • Also, included is a back-up role for KWBE radio.  Occasional air shifts, severe weather coverage, sports reports, sports show w/another director. • Partner with revenue leadership on development of programs, features and sponsorship opportunities


Qualifications: • 1-5 years in sports leadership position • 2+ years’ experience digital content and strategy preferably within sports media –or- strong knowledge of digital content development, strategy, and planning • Bachelor’s degree preferred • Comprehensive knowledge of digital media including mobile, digital audio • Thorough understanding of local sports media landscape • Foundational knowledge of news reporting (video training will be provided) • Capable of presenting ideas to leaders • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
