Description:
Gather information and communicate to our listening and reading audience information about breaking news, events, and local meetings. Prepare news stories for broadcast and postings on our website/social media pages. Responsible for production and airing of three radio newscasts per day Monday through Saturday (pre-recorded) and five public affairs interviews per week.
(Optional) Join our sports broadcasting team and contribute to our very busy sports play-by-play and color commentary schedule and get paid per event on top of your main pay.
Responsibilities:
- Organize the gathering and production of news content on-air and online.
- Use of digital tools to enhance news gathering and dissemination.
- Generate news leads and news tips to develop stories.
- Ensure the accuracy of news programs.
- Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation and research.
- Edit news material, prepare and write stories according to style and format standards.
- Assist in other station operations as needed/ as necessary (Fill-in on air host for live shows, sports play-by-play and/or color commentary, sports broadcast video production, on-air staff rotation of severe weather coverage)
- Interact with senior management in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
- Explore the use of video to enhance news pieces when possible
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing news coverage.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Record maintenance skills
- Knowledge of ethical standards for the research and development of news articles
- Knowledge of technical processes/equipment or the ability to grasp them in a timely manner
