POSITION PURPOSE: The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for a wide variety of tasks, tools, and equipment that bring KSL TV to our viewing audience. This position includes working with editors and producers, server administration, computer networking, fibre optics, LTO tape archives, signal flow, microwave technology, satellite uplink and downlink, mountain site broadcasting and equipment maintenance and installation, 3D printing, live and pre-recorded special events, audio workflows, video workflows, cloud computing, streaming services, video encoding, collaboration with NBC and syndicated content providers, and various other tasks related to media production and broadcast.
Coverage of Prime-Time broadcasting (late afternoon/evening)
Experienced work in a media environment (video editing, audio mixing, media production, photography, videography, or live productions)
Maintaining equipment and responding to support calls.
Implementing new builds and construction of new systems.
Troubleshooting signal issues and collaborating with vendors to resolve issues.
Travel to various locations in Utah to maintain our signal paths.
Supporting remote broadcasting events.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education in a related field.
5 years of experience in either system administration, media production, or networking.
Solid understanding of signal flow, computer drawing software, and diagraming.
Understanding of computer networking, ports, fibre optic connectivity, and connection protocols.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to collaborate with various teams in the organization.
Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively
Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs. or heavy studio production equipment as needed
Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination
Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive company vehicles
