POSITION OVERVIEW
KSL-TV is looking for a talented Video Editor & Photographer to create engaging, character-driven stories for both in-depth projects and daily news. This role requires strong creative storytelling skills and the ability to deliver high-quality video edits efficiently under deadline pressure.
Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.
This position is an onsite role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake City site.
Compensation
$17.00 – 18.50 per hour. Hourly rate to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Edit video material per needs of KSL, using non-linear computer-based equipment. Edit video material to meet the various deadlines while maintaining and using professional editing skills, i.e., creativity, speed, technique and use of equipment. Newsgathering; capturing and covering daily news events, as assigned by the assignment desk. Correctly operate and maintain photographer and microwave equipment (Maintain a working knowledge of setting up and receiving live shots and satellite feeds and camera equipment.) Perform routine editing duties as assigned (i.e., line editing, Feedroom, training etc.). Proficiently use professional editing software to perform all editing tasks (trimming, sequencing, color correction, audio, graphics, effects). At events of news interest, gather information, shoot video, communicate with producers and editors to effectively and accurately present events. Maintain communication with the station, alerting the desk by radio or phone of any story or personal status change that may affect the assignment. Willing and able to perform on-call, and weekend duties on a rotating basis. Ensure the accuracy and quality of all final video content.Requirements:
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For: Two years previous journalism broadcast experience, related field, or equivalent Experience as video editor or photographer preferred Experience with microwave and satellite operations preferred Prefer degree in journalism or communications, or equivalent, with an emphasis in broadcast news style writing Experience with non-linear editing equipment required, preferably Adobe Premiere Prefer news photography or equivalent experience, including basic field lighting and audio skills Good vision, a sense of news value and creative abilities in editing techniques. An audition link or file is required, demonstrating accuracy, fairness and video editing news style. Ability to work, lift, and carry photography equipment, at times in harsh conditions. Self-starter, capable of making accurate journalistic editing decisions on stories in an innovative and creative way Ability to work effectively in team environment Strong computer skills and able to get video from various computer-based formats and sources Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination Good vision and hand coordination Lift, move, and carry equipment that weighs 50-60 lbs.
