POSITION PURPOSE:

 

The Bonneville CFO directs and oversees the financial activities of the Company, acting as a strategic partner and advisor to the President and other leadership. The CFO also oversees technology functions, with the IT leader reporting directly to the CFO. The CFO is responsible for developing Bonneville’s overall financial policies and provides strategic direction of all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance and tax. They will ensure proper financial controls are in place and financial transactions support the overall business strategy while conforming with applicable laws, accounting standards and regulations. We are looking for a strong leader who can balance immediate issues with the longer-term strategy, anticipating and communicating proactively with leadership and other stakeholders to ensure the health and growth of the Company.

 

The location of this role is primarily on-site, requiring the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake office.

 

In order to work on Company premises, or with clients / members of the public at other locations, Bonneville employees must provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or evidence of a negative COVID-19 test within the previous seven days.  This position has dual reporting lines to the President of Bonneville and to the CFO of DMC.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Work with the President and other executives to coordinate planning, establish budgets and set other priorities for the company and individual business units.
Use data to make informed strategic plans for long-term stability and growth.
Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
Compare sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
Study long-range internal and external trends and projects and their impact on the future growth of the company, especially in sales and market share.
Oversee technology functions; ensure technology and data capabilities support business needs and comport with best industry practices.
Review planning process and make improvements to current methods.
Oversee contracts and budgets related to key business operations such as risk management, capital, and financial vendors.
Work with the CFO of DMC to align strategies, systems, and processes in shared services of treasury, tax and payroll.
Ensure appropriate financial controls and procedures are in place and functioning properly.
Interface with internal and external auditors and the Company’s Board of Directors.
Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Participate in and actively support Bonneville’s EEO policy as it relates to recruitment, selection, evaluation, compensation, training, promotion and termination.  Includes being knowledgeable and conversant with the FCC EEO Rules effective March 10, 2003, and understanding the compliance issues that safeguard the station’s FCC license.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

At least 10 years of leadership experience and a proven ability to lead teams and work effectively across organizational boundaries.
Ability to organize, analyze and interpret financial data and draw conclusions from findings and follow-through.
Ability to communicate financial information in a such a way as to provide recommendations for operational improvement and business model modifications.
Ability to communicate clearly and proactively in written, verbal and quantitative forms.
Capable and willing to resolve unexpected problems and be flexible to perform unscheduled assignments.
A high level of proficiency with technology, software and ability to learn new systems.
Highly familiar with the benefits and shortcomings of all types of media including, but not limited to “heritage” media as well as all types of current and emerging social and digital media.
Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Five years or more financial experience in broadcast or digital media industries highly preferred.
Bachelor degree in Accounting highly preferred.  Other undergraduate degrees in Economics, Business Management or Finance will be considered.
Graduate degree in Accounting, Business Management or similar also preferred.
CPA license highly preferred. Other professional designations such as CFA will be considered.
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Maintain a valid driver’s license and proven ability to safely drive personal vehicle without exposing company to serious liability risks.
Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and written communication effectively.
Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Be capable of frequent travel to the company’s markets, including solo travel.
