Position Summary:

Develop strategies to attain sales revenue and goals for the station by giving work direction to our sales staff and selling advertising air time on all four WyoRadio Stations and advertising space for Wyo4News to new and existing clients.

 

Job Scope:

Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating from specific and definite direction and instructions.  Decisions are of routine or critical nature, made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies, and procedures.  Is responsible for performing job duties within institutional guidelines.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervisory in nature.  Gives work direction to sales staff.

 

Interpersonal Contacts:

Has both internal and external contacts.  The most common internal contacts are with Company Owners/Managers, Department Supervisors and Employees.  Will have external contacts with customers, vendors, community members and organizations.  Both types of interactions involve information exchange, good customer service and problem solving.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and Job Duties: ·         Assist in recruitment of, support and retention of local sales staff. ·         Train new and existing sales staff on company sales techniques. ·         Present solutions and suggestions to sales staff to help grow and maintain customer bases. ·         Accompany sales staff on occasional visits to customers for continued training purposes. ·         Conduct daily/weekly meetings with staff top optimize communications ·         Assist sales staff when they are having difficulty collecting on invoices due by making personal visits to clients, making suggestions on how to collect and enlisting local collection agencies when necessary. ·         Monitor all sales contracts to assure accuracy and proper execution. ·         Monitor sales contracts expiration dates to assure customer is contacted in enough time to renew if they wish. ·         Assist sales staff with unsatisfied customers, suggesting ways for customer needs to be met while keeping needs of the station in mind. ·         Set monthly sales revenue goals for the stations and individual sales associates. ·         Report weekly/monthly to Owner/Manager to follow up on sales activities. ·         Work closely with the Owner/Manager/Programming Department/Wyo4News to create unique and valuable cross-platform programs integrating our on-air advertising, online radio advertising, digital products and on-site events. ·         Participate in local Civic/Public Relations activities. ·         Maintain and service an account list of up to 25 “local” businesses. ·         Service and solicit agency advertising to businesses on “House Account” list ·         Contact potential and existing customers regarding their needs for advertising via personal visit, email and telephone contact. ·         Make cold calls to potential customers. ·         Identify new advertising markets and propose contracts to serve them. ·         Contact inactive customers to try to re-establish relationship with them. ·         Assist walk-in customers with promotion building and refer them to sales associates if possible. ·         Schedule and attend live remote events to assist clients and on-air talent. ·         Schedule in-studio time as a part of advertising. ·         Write scripts, production orders, sales proposals and contracts. ·         Produce accurate contracts for each customer and assure that they are properly executed. ·         Assure current and correct copy is running properly for each customer. ·         Write and record radio ads. ·         Maintain organized files with contracts and scripts. ·         Collect on individual sales for commissions with Accounts Receivable through contact with customer via letter, email, phone call or personal appearance. ·         Monitor Accounts Receivable reports for accuracy and timeliness. ·         Monitor Sales Reports for accuracy and progress and deficiencies.  Use the sales report to project future sales and opportunities with upcoming events, holidays and time markers. ·         Maintain a professional appearance while contacting clients and in the office ·         Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Other physical or mental requirements of the position that have not been addressed: ·         Must have the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required. ·         Must own vehicle to drive to customers places of business. ·         Must possess a clean driving record according to our insurance standard in order to drive company vehicles. ·         Must be persistent, creative and organized and learn not to take “no” personally. ·         Attention to detail is a must as contracts and advertising copy must be correct.   Education and/or Experience: ·         Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. ·         One to three years of sales experience, broadcast or digital audio sales experience. ·         Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Word and Excel required. ·         Strong leadership skills a must. ·         Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary. ·         Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required. ·         Knowledge of basic office equipment and computer skills.
