Our ideal producer will be a highly skilled communicator who is passionate about news and practices the highest journalistic standards. For this role, we need someone who works exceptionally well in a team and is driven and proactive in their approach to work. Management will assign responsiblities on a regular and/or rotating basis depending upon need and proven capabilities and the need to provide expertise for the future.  

Shift: 11 a.m. 7 p.m.




Research and write news stories: Write in the voice of the anchor(s) you are teamed with. Learn their likes/dislikes and play to their strengths.  Understand the style of multiple reporters feeding stories to the newsroom, and possess the confidence to revise or reject poor source material.
Think, write and edit at the intense, rapid pace required in a breaking news environment. Tight timelines, last minute changes and deadline pressure are routine. Candidate thrives and is energized by demands of fast-paced writing and turnaround.
Artful writing of multiple reporter angles into seamless combination and scaling of team coverage presentation.  Creating a big sound, cutting through the ordinary with a presentation that feels important and demands attention.
Effectively and appropriately use social media to present stories via all available media channels
Work hours required, including weekends and holidays under deadlines
Be available for breaking news coverage at all times of the day, including weekends and holidays
Coordinate with other news producers, reporters and executive producer on breaking news updates and coverage
Other duties as assigned



College degree in communications, journalism, marketing or other relevant field. If no degree, 4 years relevant experience
Mastery of broadcast writing and the craft of storytelling is essential.  Ability to write in the language of spoken conversation, conveying authority and relatability at the same time.  Reliance on common language and word choice and aversion to stilted jargon or journalistic crutches.
Skill at taking complex stories to make them both simple and meaningful.  Cutting through dry detail, numbers, names and unimportant background in order to write with clarity and instinct about what the listener really needs to knowand will find appealing.

Maintain positive and cooperative rapport with staff, management and clients

Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.
