Description:

KAIT 8 is currently in search of a dynamic and creative individual who possesses passion and energy for generating captivating sports coverage, crafting written content to complement video, and delivering engaging live shots on-air and online. As a member of the K8 Sports team, you will be self-motivated and driven, consistently striving for excellence each day. As a Sports Anchor/MMJ  you will play a vital role in delivering accurate, engaging, and compelling sports coverage.

Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities: ·  Post sports reports online to station website and social media platforms. ·  Utilize various resources, including local community contacts, press releases, digital media, and wire services, to gather information for sports content and features. ·  Collaborate with the Sports Director, producers, reporters, and news management to stay updated on breaking sports news and developing stories. ·  Conduct live on-location sports reporting during breaking sports news, events, and community happenings, demonstrating engaging sports reporting skills and the ability to think on your feet. ·  Maintain composure and deliver clear and concise live sports reporting even in high-pressure situations. ·  Serve as the anchor for weekend sports presenting scores and features with clarity, professionalism, and poise. ·  Write, edit, and proofread sports scripts for your anchor segments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to station standards. ·  Collaborate with the Sports Director, producers, and the news team to select relevant sports features, developing a strong understanding of regional sporting events and local sports trends. ·  Will have to travel to different local locations for sports coverage.  

Requirements:

Requirements: ·  Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field ·  Basic experience with newsroom computer systems is preferred (ENPS) ·  Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television). ·  Ability to operate a field camera, editing, and lighting equipment ·  Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record ·  Ability to represent the station professionally/responsibly in the community and newsroom, and on social media ·  Must have a desire to win, the ability to reflect on your work, and apply feedback
