Chisholm Trail Broadcasting is looking for the next shining star to be News Director for our three station cluster in Northwestern Oklahoma. CTB’s commitment to news is very important and applicant will be responsible for the gathering and recording of news for all newscasts (currently seven per day Monday - Friday). CTB is also heavily into local sports and is looking for an applicant who loves sports as this person will be the new play by play voice for the Area Game of the Week on one of our FM stations and will have lots of opportunities for broadcasting football, basketball, and baseball games. Applicant will also schedule and record area civic leaders and local groups for a daily three minute public affairs program as well as scheduling and helping groups who wish to record local public service announcements for their upcoming events. The News Director also coordinates and hosts all election coverage. Since CTB is a small, tight-knit group, the ability to do production is required as well as voice tracking an air shift on one of our FM stations and some live remotes as needed. CTB is looking for someone who can build a close relationship with local police and law enforcement officials as well as being civic minded and enjoys getting out in the public and help with civic projects such as the MS Walk, 4RKids, and other charitable foundations or civic groups. 

Responsibilities:

A typical day will be from 5:30 a.m. to about 10:00 a.m. with a mid-day break and then from 2:00 p.m. to about 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, but will also be needed as news warrants.

 

Requirements:

The ability to know what is news and to be able to properly write and convey that news to the listeners. Applicant must also have a background of doing sports play by play for football, basketball, and baseball.

Actual radio experience doing newscasts and/or sportscasts with a background of broadcasting sports play-by-play.

A Bachelors degree in broadcast related field is preferred, but not required for the right candidate with the right experience.

Knowledge of computer audio editing software such as Cool Edit / Adobe Audition and an understanding of computer automation systems, especially Nexgen Automation. Experience with remote and sports broadcast equipment gear and the ability to set up and broadcast from a remote location is a plus.
